Pilot Program #3 Be Reconciled to God

Welcome to Northland Reformed Website

Welcome to the website of the Northland Reformed Church in Kansas City, MO.  We are glad you found it and hope you will be encouraged to take a closer look.  Whether you're looking for a church home or a place to worship where the Word of God is heartily believed and boldly proclaimed, we want you to know that we've been looking and praying for you as well.  We are a vibrant congregation that is trying to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ ( II Peter 3:18).  We would like nothing better than for you to grow with us!

We've recently placed some banners along NW Cookingham Drive and Westbound Interstate 435.  If you'd like to a read a further explanation about this outreach click on either  picture.

   Cookingham   (click on picture for more info)   I-435

We gather to worship on Sundays at 9:30 AM and 5:00 PM (Sunday School for all afterwards).  Our services are orderly and earnest.  We don't try to worship as would please ourselves (or our visitors), but rather as we believe God desires to be worshiped.  Simply stated, we try to worship God in God's way, as he has commanded.  Ironically, as we purpose to honor God and give Him all the glory and praise, it does benefit us deeply... but almost incidentally.   Check out this link for an article that contrasts man centered with God centered worship.

Practically, this means our worship focuses on the Word of God, the Bible, as it reveals the Triune God.  We sing, we pray, we listen. We celebrate the greatness of God and His work of redemption in Christ.    "THE LORD REIGNS!"  Let's worship the LORD together!

We strive to do what we're called to do in Psalm 100.

Psalm 100

 A Psalm of Thanksgiving.

 1 Make a joyful shout to the LORD, all you lands!

 2 Serve the LORD with gladness;

         Come before His presence with singing.

 3 Know that the LORD, He is God;

         It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;

         We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,

         And into His courts with praise.

         Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.

 5 For the LORD is good;

         His mercy is everlasting,

         And His truth endures to all generations.

WHAT NEXT?
You're probably wondering if our understanding and practice of the Christian faith is similar to yours.   We believe "all that God has revealed to us in His Word, the Holy Bible."  We believe the Bible is sufficient to teach us all that we need  for faith and life.

We are what is called a Reformed or Creedal church because we believe what faithful Christians have believed for the past 2000 years.  These include the Apostles and Nicene Creeds of the early church and the Three Forms of Unity of the Protestant Reformation.  We believe each of these documents accurately summarize the teachings of God's unchanging Truth, the Holy Scriptures.  We believe the Canon of Scripture is complete and do not believe any writings or revelations can challenge the Truth of what has already been written.  As Paul says in Galatians 1: "But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed."  The Scriptures are the only divinely inspired infallible and inerrant Word of God.

As you decide whether you want to come for a visit, you are welcome to give us a closer look.  Our website has links to our creeds and confessions (check out the section that explains why creeds are helpful, our denomination, and even to an extensive QA Section on OPC.ORG (of a sister denomination) that is quite helpful.

1. As you can see from the left hand column of this page, we LIVE STREAM our worship services.  If you're online at the time, you can watch and listen to our weekly services.  We've been having a few hiccups with this... so you might want to check if the link is working.

2. You can glance over our weekly bulletins.  Our services are straight forward.  We pray, we sing, we listen to God's word.

3. As we believe the Holy Spirit works faith in the hearts of believers through the preaching of the Gospel, we try to upload the sermons from the previous Sunday (on Tuesday).  As these are in MP3 format, they can be listened to online or downloaded to your mp3 player.

4. There are also a some radio ads and few pilot programs that might be of interest to you.

WHAT TO EXPECT IF YOU VISIT
 Most people will be dressed casual to business casual, though some (like the pastor) will be dressed in a suit and tie.  If you dress only in jeans and T-shirts on the weekends, that will be fine.  God put us the planet to worship him.  That we gather for worship is more important than what we wear.

We usually begin our services at the stated times and they generally last 65 and 75 minutes.

Our services are pretty easy to follow, and after the Opening, we pretty much stand to sing and sit for the rest.

God not only commands all men every where to repent, he also calls them to worship.  He even exhorts that we should not forsake the assemblying of ourselves together, as is the manner of some. (Hebrews 10:24,25).

 Might the words of Psalm 116 reflect each of our heart's desire:

"12What shall I render to the LORD
         For all His benefits toward me?
 13 I will take up the cup of salvation,
         And call upon the name of the LORD.
 14 I will pay my vows to the LORD
         Now in the presence of all His people."
